Please find our frequently asked questions below. Still need help? Just get in touch and we will be happy to assist.
WHAT PRODUCT DO YOU USE TO CAST THE MOULDS?
The product we use to cast moulds is called 'alginate'. This is a product used daily by medical professionals, specifically dentists, who use it for brace moulds. It is a completely safe, non-toxic product that works in harmony with human skin and organic matter.
HOW LONG WILL THE CASTING TAKE?
This is completely dependent on the specifics of your requirements. Casting an infant’s hand and foot can be completed in as little as half an hour. But, in reality, and allowing for wriggle time, changes, and other real-life events our little ones insist on, it will likely take a little longer. I often recommend you accommodate a feed during your appointment if possible, as this can help calm your little one and help them stay still.
You will also need to allow more time for life castings that include two or more people.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE THE FINISHED PRODUCT?
You’ll need to allow up to ten weeks for the finished product to be received. This is because I spend a lot of time on the detail of the moulds, ensuring everything is perfect. However, as with any bespoke project, your timeline and important dates like birthdays and other events can be incorporated into the timeframe where possible and on request.
WHERE DOESÂ THE CASTING TAKE PLACE?
In most cases, casting will take place in person at my home in Sittingbourne, Kent. However, if you have a particular location in mind, or would like the casting done at home, please contact me to discuss your requirements. For bereavement castings, I travel to the place of rest and will complete the casting respectfully on site.
CAN I BOOK MY CASTING BEFORE MY BABY ARRIVES?
Yes! You can book your casting as far in advance as you’d like to avoid disappointment. For newborn castings, we will book an appointment around the best provisional due date closer to the expected arrival. And as babies have a habit of turning up a little earlier or later than planned, rest assured you can rearrange your booking at no extra cost.
DO YOU COVER ALL AGES?
Absolutely! When it comes to casting, age is like laughter and imagination – without limit!
HOW DO YOU CAST A DOG’S PAW?
All our furry friends ideally need to be trimmed around the paw and claws to get the best result. We also use a release agent product so that the alginate can be easily removed from the fur. As always, you can be assured that your pet is in safe and well-trained hands that are very used to having animals around.
DO YOU OFFER GIFT VOUCHERS?
Yes, we offer personalised gift vouchers across all our products starting from £20.00.
